Boring stuff about me

Just getting started with this, so bear with me as I slowly add more info…

My personal website with a focus on what I do

It’s hard for me to separate work and play because work for me is so enjoyable——I love what I do. I am research faculty at Duke University in the Department of Pharmacology & Cancer Biology working with the amazing Trudy Oliver where I am involved in cancer research, especially cancer systems biology. My official training was as an experimental biologist at the cell and molecular level, and I obtained my Ph.D. studying transcription factors and their rapid activation by extracellular signals from Saint Louis University under the tutelage of Nicola Partridge. I conducted my postdoctoral studies at UC Irvine with Ralph A. Bradshaw.

Recreation

Cycling is a particular passion, especially mountain biking, but I’ll ride anything with two wheels. I can have fun playing just about any recreational sport or activity. I enjoy most music genres but have a special place in my heart for alternative and punk.

Family

I am very proud of my son who is studying computer engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana. His mother is an amazing speech therapist specializing in feeding and swallowing disorders at High Hopes for Kids in Franklin, TN and to whom I am very grateful to had been married for many years.

Odd and ends

Guinness is manna.
